While going though my Google reader today , I found out that Facebook has just announced their new application for Android and iOS device called “Messenger”.When I read this name for the first time I thought this app would be for chatting purpose only but when I installed this app on my Android phone I found out that the purpose of this app this to send and receive messages from your Facebook friends.

The interface of this app is different from Facebook for Android as its interface is design specially for messaging purposes. In this app you can check your all the message conversation and also create further messages too.

Messenger is a separate app, so it only takes one click to get to your messages or send a new one. Messages are delivered through notifications and texts, so your friends are more likely to get them right away.

You can use Messenger to reach all of your friends — whether they’re on Facebook or in your phone contacts. All you have to do is type the person’s name.

This app is also integrated with the chat feature with I think chat would also appear as Instant message in this app but you would have no problem continuing you chat this way.You can also create group chat or group messages , share photos or share your location with this app.

The application is available for free on App Store and Android market.

Facebook is surely the most popular social network on the web and because of its popularity its users are increasing day by day. Also Facebook is improving by introducing new features regularly. And according to the latest news by TechChrunch Facebook will introduce video chat feature in coming week and they also claim that this service would be powered by Skype.

The users do not have to worry about installing any plugins or anything else as this service will be browser based but a desktop client will also be available for it.Some expert’s thing that Microsoft has to do something with the introduction of some new feature in Facebook. Also Microsoft is also involved with Skype as they may acquire it the coming time and the amount expected for this deal is $8.5 billion.

There is no official word for this from Facebook or Skype but the prove to this news is that Facebook has send invitations to people for event next week and we hope in this event Mark Zuckerberg will officially break this news to the world.

World’s first ever Facebook SIM card has just been released a company called Gemalto, known world wide fir it’s digital security. It is specially featured to make every GSM phone a Facebook phone even your old fashioned handset, rolling in almost all the features of the social network.

The SIM has been developed with the help of Facebook, sadly it doesn’t have features like picture streams or sliding interfaces, it rather delivers minimal features. With the help of the SIM, users would get text-menu-based integration including status updates, pokes and friend requests, porting it on any GSM compatible handset.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed:

We worked closely with Gemalto on their Facebook for SIM product and believe it will be another easy and affordable way for people to stay connected through Facebook on the mobile phone of their choice. Facebook for SIM creatively combines technologies from some of our existing mobile solutions that especially are attractive for people with feature phones and have limited or no data plans with a mobile operator. Through the Facebook application on the SIM card people can: Update their status and view comments on it; write on their friends wall; receive notifications; find friends on their SIM phonebook.

A recently published report from analytics company Democracy UK — that describes exactly what happens in the aforementioned period of time on the site — has piqued our interest. On average:

1 million links are shared, 1.32 million photos are tagged, 1.48 million event invitations are sent out, 1.59 million wall posts are published, 1.85 million status updates are posted, 2.72 million photos are uploaded, 4.63 million messages are sent, and 10.21 million comments hit the site.

WOW! isn’t Facebook a huge jungle. And the Queen of the Jungle? Lady Gaga, she is the most liked celebrity, Justin Bieber ranked 9th BOOYAA!.

Facebook Photos, one of the social network’s most popular features, is getting a big and potentially controversial upgrade that automatically suggests whom users should tag in photos based on facial recognition technology.

The new feature, Tag Suggestions, will begin rolling out to U.S. users next week. Tag Suggestions is fairly straightforward. Whenever you’re offered the chance to tag groups of your friends in an album, Facebook will utilize its facial recognition technology to group similar faces together and automatically suggest the friend you should tag them with. As you can see in the screenshot below, Facebook fills in the “Who is this?” box with its suggestion — all you have to do is click the “Save Tags” button to accept.

according to Facebook Vice President of Product Chris Cox suggestions will only appear when its algorithms have “high confidence” of who’s being suggested. Unlike Face.com, Facebook doesn’t reveal its certainty level and wouldn’t reveal what percentage actually correlates to “high confidence.”

The social giant is also preemptively addressing the potential privacy issues that will be brought up from automatic, algorithmic tagging. Users can opt out of Tag Suggestions by going to their privacy settings and disabling the “Suggest photos of me to friends” feature.

Photos are by far the most engaging content on facebook and by adding this new feature facebook hopes their users will be tagging and uploading more and more photos.

Facebook social network site, during Web 2.0 summit is going to launch new email service name as Fmail. In the start of this year Facebook talk about their web base email service that is developed under the name of Project –Titan. Largest social network website is going to offer email service to its more than 500 million users, in order to compete against the email service Giants that is Yahoo and Gmail.

Facebook has more than 500 million active users. By launching Fmail feature to the users of Facebook doesn’t mean that all of then will activate their Facebook email account. As most of them had already using email accounts but all together the Facebook email service will come to compete with existing email services like Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail services. At present, facebook users can only exchange messages together but present internal messaging service does not allow facebook users to exchange and send attachments together. Facebook has a biggest advantage to graft email onto its existing social services as it has large number of people data and information with them.

Facebook web base email service is expected to be incorporated and works with Microsoft web base version of office. Online read, edit and share documents option has already been added by Microsoft with its email client service called Hotmail online service. Therefore, web base office version option will be available to all Facebook Users at Docs.com. Introduction of Fmail, clearly shows Facebook‘s war with Google. In the past Google tried its best to compete with Facebook in social networking area, with introducing Orkut, Wave, Buzz and others but face very hard time.

Today there was a little confusing scenario for internet users in Saudi Arabia as in case of censorship Saudi Arabia blocked and unblocked access to Facebook within the same day. This morning Associated Press reported that Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission has temporarily banned Facebook because of moral reasons.

Well the ban was so temporary that after few hours this ban was lifted. No specific reasons are mentioned by the authorities for blocking and then unblocking Facebook. Currently there are about two million Facebook users in Saudi Arabia and we would love to listen to their say about this.

If you are from Pakistan or Bangladesh then you would remember that some ago Facebook was banned in these countries because of the it’s blasphemous content, you might remember which involved uploading the uploading the satirical cartoon images involved Muhammad (P.B.U.M) to a Facebook group called “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!” Depictions of Muhammad are explicitly forbidden in some Islamic texts. So, because of Facebook was banned in Pakistan and Bangladesh for some weeks.

Skype and Facebook made official there partnership a few days back after a series of buzz roaming around. Skype 5 has incorporated several other features other than sustaining Facebook. According to Skype this new version is updated and users will find it to be interesting and modernized!

Renewed and clearer interface is the first inclusion that you notice, which includes a Facebook label enabling you to view Facebook News Feed and Phone book. You can post messages, renew your status information and like or dislike other comments, also via Phone book you can surf through Facebook friends list and make calls or send text messages. Skype-to-Skype calls and messages are free of any charges but communicating with a non-Skype user entails a minute fee.

The calls broken up due to bad quality are connected first via the Automated Call Recovery feature that has been added in Skype 5. Group video calling is another added feature which is at present in a beta phase which can be tried for free. The feature is ideal for calls involving two or more users as it mechanically exchanges focus to the existing speaker in a video call. The call quality can be enhanced with the assistance of the The Quality Manager.

Both Facebook and Skype users will find the new features amalgamated as a result of the partnership pleasing. Skype 5 can be downloaded via Skype’s official website.
