The announcement was made on Thursday that Best Buy will be the exclusive retailer for the HTC Flyer tablets only Wi-Fi Version. Well those who don’t know about the details of this tablet, it is a 7-inch Android tablet which had 1.5Ghz processor in it.It has 1GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage with HDMI out.It also has 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera.

This tablet will have a lot of competition against it and iPad is surely its biggest competitor but I think HTC has its own uniqueness and those whose that their HTC phone would also like this tablet.

Everyone wants to keep his PC data and information safe and secure but this becomes impossible when a person connects his PC to internet. There are a number of security threats – Trojan horses, spyware, and viruses etc- to which a computer exposed off when a person used the internet. Although installation of some security applications can protect the PC to some extent yet there is still need of some way with which the private and important data of PC can be protected from the attack of viruses. One can protect his files , personal and financial information by using an external hard drive.

What is an external hard drive?

External hard drive is a hard disk that is located outside the computer in its own enclosure. It is used to store all important and valuable information, data and files of a computer. It is not a part of a computer as the internal hard drive is however it can be attached with the computer with the mean of an interface. A person can connect this device with the computer via a USB or Firewire. After connecting with PC, the user can transfer the data and computer files to or from an external hard drive.

What are the benefits of an external hard drive?

Here are some benefits which the user can avail from external hard drives:

Data and file security:

The first benefit which one can get through external hard drives is the security and safety of data. A person can use an external hard drive as a locker where he can transfer documents, PDF files, spreadsheets, programs, disk images, applications, movies etc. whenever he needs some file, he can transfer it back from PC to hard drive.

Good back up device:

External hard drive works as a good back up device because a user is able to keep the back up of all important files in it and to retrieve the files from it whenever he desires. In this way no data loss will be lost even a virus will attack the data and files of computer.

Portable device:

External hard drives are portable and light-weight therefore a person is able to take this drive anywhere with him. This feature of drive lets the business professionals and students to use this device on-the-go for using their personal data and files.

Gaming and Mac are not at all synonymous, Steam and gaming however are frequently used together; the rumor mill suggests that Steam might soon be available on the Mac. ATI has gone from strength to strength ever since they were taken over by AMD, they became the graphics company with the cutting edge in gaming graphics hardware and ATI also started capturing a far larger segment of the market with its Radeon line of graphics cards which they are consolidating with the launch of the AMD ATI 5830 graphics card.

A curious gamer recently spotted some interesting files after installing the latest update for the Steam application. Some of the files in the new update seemed OS X specific, and while there is no official response, comment or news from Valve yet, many people suspect that Valve may be getting ready to launch Steam on Mac OS X.

Many of the games available on Steam are from publishers who do make Mac compatible games and would most likely welcome such a move as would Mac users worldwide. On the other hand it is (unlikely yet) possible that these files are a remnant left behind due to the shift from the use of Internet Explorer to WebKit by Steam.

The AMD ATI 5830 Radeon 5000 series graphics card is the first in the Radeon 5000 series to be priced below $250. It also slots in very nicely both in terms of price and specs between the ATI Radeon 4770 and ATI Radeon 5850.

According to ATI itself, the ATI Radeon 5830 itself provides enthusiast level performance, which loosely translated might well mean mediocre. Unlike the current flagship, the ATI Radeon 5970, the ATI Radeon 5830 does not promise much room for overclockers to maneuver but then it is not aimed at that particular market.

Hardcore gamers may well prefer to go with the ATI Radeon 5850 or even the ATI Radeon 4770 because of budgetary constraints and the ability to overclock the card to much higher levels of performance but the AMD ATI Radeon 5830 is for far more casual gamers interested in DirectX 11 compatibility out of the box as well as the capability to get all the new games up and running without any problems.

To conclude, nothing looks set on the availability of Steam for Mac users anytime soon although it seems far more likely now than before the launch of the latest Steam version.

The ATI Radeon 5830 on the other hand is a very reasonable graphics card for the sub $250 market and will no doubt please many gamers the world over.

Just recently we covered Superspeed USB 3.0 peripherals by Belkin and Solid State Drives by SanDisk and today we shall preview a similar technology by Buffalo. In this post we will preview a product that will actually be capable of utilizing some of the capabilities of Superspeed USB 3.0 and therefore the peripherals made by Belkin and other companies and that is the Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 external hard drive.

Buffalo Technologies is a Japanese based company that mostly produces computer peripherals such as external hard drives, network storage devices, USB Flash Drives, Wi-Fi USB connectors for the Nintendo Wii and also Buffalo AirStation (wireless LAN peripherals).

The Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 external drives are not really for regular home users, for one thing they are available in three storage sizes: 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB. The Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 does not in our opinion cater to the kind of space the regular user needs these days.

We’ve all of course heard a lot about Superspeed USB 3.0 and its extremely fast data rates (theoretically up to 4.8 Gbps although more pragmatic estimates suggest 400 MB/s as a more accurate transfer rate) and of course its hassle removing ability to do away with the need for external power for most devices.

The Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 external drive is capable (according to Buffalo) of delivering transfer rates of up to 625 MB/s which we do not doubt although the loss of speed generated due to data being transferred through a PCIe card or even ExpressCard will of course reduce those rates.

Speaking of which, Buffalo has also launched their own USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card IFC-PCIE2U3 to allow users without USB 3.0 compatible motherboards to use this and any other Superspeed USB 3.0 device.

The 1 TB model of the Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 Superspeed USB 3.0 external hard drive code HD-HX1.0TU3 is priced at $199.99, the 1.5 TB HD-HX1.5TU3 model at $249.99 and the 2 TB HD-HX2.0TU3 model at $399.99.

All in all we feel that the Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 and the Buffalo IFC-PCIE2U3 are both devices will be well out of range of normal home users and only people with needs matched by the depth of their pockets will be able to purchase these devices. At least until 2011 when AMD and Intel are both scheduled to start introducing motherboards with chipsets supporting USB 3.0 out of the box which will at least cut some of the costs.

SSDs or Solid State Drives are by no means a new phenomenon but as of yet have limited exposure in the market. USB 3.0 has been around for a while now but as with Solid State Drives (SSDs) there has been a dearth of products and those that are available are still beyond the reach of the average consumer. Belkin recently released USB 3.0 Superspeed products including a PCIe card, cables and also a Superspeed USB 3.0 Expresscard for use with laptops. SanDisk meanwhile are starting to ship 60 GB and 120 GB G3 SSD to North America and Europe.

Samsung, SanDisk, Intel and Western Digital are the main players in the SSD consumer market today and have each come out with various Solid State Drives. Perhaps the most extensive use of SSDs has been in laptops, netbooks, notebooks, OLPCs and gaming consoles such as the PS3 and the XBox 360. Solid State Drives have also been used for server storage solutions cutting costs not only by saving time but by improving reliability.

SanDisk is an American MNC that is the global leader in flash memory products. They recently starting shipping the SanDisk G3 Solid State Drive with two versions available, one with 60 GB worth of storage and the other with 120 GB. According to SanDisk, the SanDisk G3 SSD can open files twice as fast as a 7,200 rpm hard disk drive and is also far more reliable.

Furthermore with compatibility for the Windows 7 feature TRIM added to the mix, one can expect even better performance from the SanDisk G3 Solid State Drive as this feature allows Windows 7 to better manage resources and optimize performance.

Belkin on the other hand is essentially associated with connectivity products and the recently launched Superspeed USB 3.0 peripherals are nothing out of its way.

The Superspeed USB 3.0 peripherals by Belkin will allow current computers without USB 3.0 ports to use USB 3.0 compatible products and of course as USB 3.0 is backwards compatible so all USB products can essentially be used. There are three Belkin Superspeed USB 3.0 peripherals launched by Belkin and of them, one is merely a USB 3.0 cable which can connect two USB 3.0 devices.

Of the other two Belkin USB 3.0 peripherals, one is a PCIe card with two USB 3.0 slots that allow you to utilize the considerably faster data transfer rates for Superspeed USB 3.0. This card is compatible with PCIe slots only.

The last of the Belkin products is a Superspeed USB 3.0 ExpressCard which works with laptops and also has two slots.

Now the reason why these are not for everyone is that firstly, they are horribly overpriced and secondly there are very few products that can actually utilize the far greater transfer rates available to Superspeed USB 3.0. In fact a SSD is perhaps the only device that actually utilizes the prowess of USB 3.0 to any degree and they too are very costly, $299 and $399 for the 60 GB and 120 GB versions of SanDisk’s G3 SSDs.

As you can imagine from the title, Razer (an American company that specializes in making high-end keyboards and mice aimed particularly towards gamers) has developed a new breed of gaming mice (terrible pun, I know) aimed particularly at the ever burgeoning MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games market. People who purchase the Razer Naga can expect a gaming mouse that features what looks suspiciously like a number-pad.

Yes that’s right, as you can see from the image above, the Razer Naga gaming mouse features a sort of number-pad at the side of the mouse. These extra buttons are numerically labeled one to twelve and in addition to the rest of the buttons on the Razer Naga gaming mouse add up to a rather mind-boggling total of seventeen buttons! The extra buttons are highly programmable though and once the final version of the Razer Naga and its accompanying software is released we will be able to detail how well or how badly the actual product performs.

However, from what we have seen so far, the Razer Naga gaming mouse arrives with Razer’s now standard 5600 dpi with 1 ms response time. Other than that, the software is set to feature add-ons for various games (including World of Warcraft) designed to make it easier to assign specific macros for different characters and therefore make switching between characters easier. In fact, as a promotional tool we would imagine, Razer has released a video showing how to assign commands to your Razer Saga gaming mouse using the add-on specific to WoW as you can see below.

The Razer Naga gaming mouse is set to be sold at $79.99 so unless you truly are an avid MMO gamer or feel that this mouse could help improve your productivity in software like Adobe Photoshop etc, we would advise you to give a pass and stick with Razer’s lesser creations.

Many have beaten us to the punch with this product, but better late than never we always say. The Evoluent VerticalMouse has been around since as far back as August 2002 that we know of, regardless it has only come to our attention now and through us will be showcased to you.

This rather simple idea was evaluated by a team at UC Berkeley who claimed that they are “comfortable, easily adapted to, and promote a neutral wrist and forearm posture” (quoted from the manufacturer’s site).

So what exactly is so different about the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3? As you can see from the image above, the mouse has been rotated about ninety degrees so that the resting position of the forearm is much more natural and ergonomic when the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 is being handled. Considering the rise in RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury), CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and other musculoskeletal injuries an innovative idea such as this is certainly to be appreciated.

While there is nothing overly complicated about the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3, there are a few extra buttons and you can find both a wireless model as well as one designed specifically for people who are left-handed, the very simplicity would be appreciated by typical users.

The focus being ergonomics and minimizing strain, one does not truly expect really high dpi or a gaming range mouse and neither is what you would expect, however, you will find that the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 Rev 2 has a gaming grade Avago 3080 infrared sensor and 4 dpi settings which can be adjusted using a button at the bottom. The resolution settings range from 2600 dpi to 800 dpi on the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 Rev 2 and the mouse weighs in at 6.7 ounces or about 190 grams.

The only downside that one can find in this piece of ergonomic genius is the price which is slightly hefty at $80.00 for the standard version and $120.00 for the wireless one. You can find the Evoluent VerticalMouse website here.
