Motorola mobility network CEO Sanjay Jha, that the phone would be launching in the second quarter. The statement proved to be premature, as Motorola told Eweek that it was delaying the device to at least late June in order to make some modification.

The forum post also claims that the DROID X 2 will become available from Verizon Wireless in the second quarter. This indeed jibes with details we reported late last month, and they make the device sound curiously similar to the LTE-equipped DROID BIONIC. The DROID X 2 will only support 3G according to the report, however, and could come in at a lower price point.

Although all details were present, we didn’t get to hear much on the launch date. According to a recent posting, Android Central reported on an internal AT&T screen showing March 1, 2011 as the launch date of the product.

Motorola’s execution of Android on their smartphones are indicted of infringement on Microsoft patents involving e-mail, calendar, contact, and meeting time synchronization. Furthermore, Motorola is also held accountable for contravention on patents for pulling cellular signal strength and device battery information.
