Motorola have confirmed that they are delaying the launch of its Droid Bionic 4G phone until this summer so that they can improve the software and hardware by that time. The Droid Bionic 4G was introduced at the Consumer Electronic show in January LosVegas. It was the fastest android phone that was put in CES, and it is still fastest running android 2.2 smartphone till this date.

The phone is powerd by GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor being fueled by Verizon Wireless’s 4G LTE network.

Motorola mobility network CEO Sanjay Jha, that the phone would be launching in the second quarter. The statement proved to be premature, as Motorola told Eweek that it was delaying the device to at least late June in order to make some modification.

According to one of Motorola’s spokesman:

“Based on compelling feedback since the show, we are incorporating several enhancements to make this an even better consumer experience, This includes expanded features, functionality and an improved form factor”

One of the main reason behind the delay of the phone is said to be the launch of iPhone 5. A report suggest that Motorola would be countering the new features of the iPhone 5. But in my opinion this is the right time to launch the phone, because after the launch of iPhone 5 no one would even remember this phone.

Motorola’s successor to its first supersized Android smartphone may soon be unveiled following a series of leaked photos and details. User britishturbo on mobile enthusiast forum The MobiZone is the latest to claim knowledge of the upcoming device, and his claimed details gain credibility thanks to the stockpile of images that accompany them.

Although his post has since been removed from the forum, a cached version of the page reveals specs highlighted by

a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor

1GB of RAM

4.3-inch 540 x 960-pixel display as the DROID BIONIC

an 8-megapixel camera

and the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

The forum post also claims that the DROID X 2 will become available from Verizon Wireless in the second quarter. This indeed jibes with details we reported late last month, and they make the device sound curiously similar to the LTE-equipped DROID BIONIC. The DROID X 2 will only support 3G according to the report, however, and could come in at a lower price point.

Microsoft the software gaint claimed it has forwarded a complaint against Motorola in US District Court in Washington and has also conveyed it to the International Trade Commission for the infringement of nine Microsoft patents by Motorola’s Android-based smartphones.

Motorola’s execution of Android on their smartphones are indicted of infringement on Microsoft patents involving e-mail, calendar, contact, and meeting time synchronization. Furthermore, Motorola is also held accountable for contravention on patents for pulling cellular signal strength and device battery information.
Microsoft says that it has a responsibility to its customers, shareholders and partners who invest large amounts of money each year in the company and make it what it is today. Microsoft has called for an immediate halt to violation of its original inventions in its Android smartphones. This could end up in Motorola paying a large some of money as penalty as a result of this breach.
