Nokia outsourcing Symbian to Accenture

Few months ago I had a little talk with a Nokia executive about the future of Symbiam and I was told that Nokia would surely carry on their work with symbian.But I had my doubts and now Nokia is ready to outsource their work of Symbian.

Nokia will surely continue to build new hardware for Symbian phone but from now they will not work on their Symbian OS but instead they have outsourced Symbian to Accenture.Nokia and Accenture announced this news on Wednesday and now Accenture would start work on Symbian from October 2011.

Nokia’s EVP of smartphones Jo Harlow said

Our collaboration with Accenture allows us to meet our ongoing commitment to support our Symbian smartphone customers and continue to leverage the talent that has the deepest experience on the platform.

As we move our primary smartphone platform to Windows Phone, we will look to explore potential opportunities to tap this talent pool as they develop and expand their knowledge and capabilities beyond Symbian.

Many people were denying this fact but I think after the deal between Nokia and Microsoft of Windows Phone , it was obvious that Nokia could not work on all these things so they had to give Symbian away.

Nokia’s showed their first Windows Phone device

Nokia’s initial plan launch their first Windows Phone device was in 2012.But then they started saying that their is a chance that Nokia first Windows Phone device would come in 2011 and yesterday Nokia’s CEO confirmed that Nokia’s first WP device is 2011.

And today out of nowhere the images and a little video of Nokia’s first Windows Phone device has emerged on the web.Most people first didnt believed that these images are real.

These pictures were taken when first Nokia’s CEO asked the people to not to take any picture then he reveled this phone.Obviously it was expected the people would take the images if this phone and then share it.The Phone in design looks like N9 but if somebody looks it deeply he will notice some changes which shows it is a newly designed hardware for Windows Phone.

When Nokia had first announced first time that they will be make the Windows Phone devices for Microsoft they had said they will launch the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 device in 2012.Then they mentioned that there is a little possibility that they would launch first Nokia Windows Phone device later this year.And now while speaking in the CommunicAsia conference in Singapore yesterday Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop said Nokia is set to release first WP device during 2011.

Previous Nokia executives were just hinting that there is a chance that people can see first Nokia Windows Phone device this year but this time Nokia’s CEO has confidently said about its release this year.

While he said one device will launch later this year , he also mentioned that the mass volume of the product would be available to the users in 2012.These Nokia Windows Phone smartphone will all be high specs smartphones while some of them will have dual core processor.

Our primary smartphone strategy is to focus on the Windows phone.

I have increased confidence that we will launch our first device based on the Windows platform later this year and we will ship our product in volume in 2012.

Nokia’s Windows Phone deives would first launch in 6 European nation , Final not in them

Nokia’s deal with Microsoft to make Windows Phone device devices for them could be a big game changer in the world of smartphones and because if the this lethal combination Windows Phone could give some competition to other smartphone OS makers.

While Nokia has said before they will surely launch their first Windows Phone device till 2012 but if things go perfect for them then they may be able to launch their first device till the end of this year. And this week Nokia’s VP Victor Saeijs has broken the news that when Nokia would launch their Windows Phone device initially the first six European countries to get it would be France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK.Even the Nokia’s own mother nation Finland is not included in this , may be they thing they have much more customers in other six European nations then Finland.

The this news should be concerning to anyone because we can hope where ever Nokia launched their Windows Phone device first , its international launch would not take much more time.

Nokia will be fast and frequent in providing WP devices

Now that the news is confirmed that the largest cell phone makers in the world will make Windows Phone devices so everybody is waiting to see their first device which is expected early next year. But there are chances that Nokia may launch Windows Phone devices earlier than expected may be sometime this year.

Jo Harlow Nokia’s executive vice president of smartphones while in an interview with PCMag mentioned that not Nokia will roll out the Windows Phone device quit quickly and there are chances they would be able to launch device sometime this year.

He further mentioned that they would launch the WP devices in a rhythm in which they would launch new devices after every two or three months. He also said they would make Windows Phone devices their priority while the other companies like Samsung and HTC have made Windows Phone devices a secondary thing.And it is expected that Nokia will launch as many as 12 Windows Phone devices which will give the users a vast choice of hardware.

Some Nokia Windows Phone devices will have dual core processors

Rumors about the deal between Microsoft and Nokia were in the Air for several months but a month ago it was confirmed that Nokia will make Windows Phone devices. And about that is further news is that Nokia will launch 12 Windows Phone devise in 2012 and it is now discovered that few of those devices would have dual core processors.

The news comes from Forbes during a STMelectronic analyst day and CEO Carlo Bozotti confirmed that their company has really close relationships will Nokia and they will be the main supplies of the Nokia Windows Phone devices.

Few of those phones will also be powered by ST-Erisson’s U8500 which gives ARM Cortex dual-core processor. So , we can expect some awesome Nokia Windows Phone devices next and may be this combination would work for both the companies.

Nokia Windows Phone 7 Concept Phone

Nokia and Microsoft working together certainly is going to hatch some pretty birds and recently fellows at Engadget got their hands on some some pictures of the first Nokia concept phones to run Windows Phone 7.

It sort has a resemblance to Nokia N8, the concept was jointly created by new best-buds Microsoft and Nokia, with Nokia’s flair for all things multi-colored shining right on through.

As Engadget’s Vlad Savov points out though, it’s worth remembering that concept doesn’t always equal production handset, so don’t start pining for the bright pink loveliness just yet!

One thing we can surely count on is that with Nokia providing the hardware and Microsoft taking care of the software than it is definitely going take Nokia and cell phones to a better future.

Xbox Live, Office, enhanced maps coming to Nokia’s Windows Phones

At at joint press conference recently, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Nokia CEO Stephen Elop gave us what is might be the hatch of this newly forged partnership between their two companie. Fans of Nokia hardware and the Windows Phone software can get excited about the prospects of Xbox Live, Office, and enhanced maps (a combination of Ovi Maps and Bing) coming to Nokia WP sets. And as for those who love Windows Phone in general can get excited about the world’s largest phone manufacturer throwing its weight behind the recently launched mobile OS.

In a letter to developers, the companies noted that Qt would still be supported for Symbian and MeeGo — Nokia expects to ship 150 million Symbian phones during the transition; there was also mention of the first MeeGo device shipping later this year. The letter was quite clear in saying that Microsoft would “provide tools for application developers,” not Nokia. Translation: No Qt. This transition from Symbian to Windows Phone is going to be an interesting tightrope for Nokia to walk — especially in regards to developers. Nokia and Microsoft today announced plans to form a broad strategic partnership that would combine our complementary strengths and expertise to create a new global mobile ecosystem, one we believe would have all the elements needed to fuel innovation – including search, location, advertising and exciting new devices.

As part of this, Nokia plans to adopt Windows Phone as our primary smartphone strategy, helping drive the future of the platform. This has not been a decision taken lightly by Nokia and we wanted to share some of the key points with our developer community.

Nokia and Microsoft together
The Nokia-Microsoft ecosystem would aim to deliver differentiated and innovative products and have unrivalled scale, product breadth, geographical reach, and brand identity. With Windows Phone as our primary smartphone platform, we would help drive the future of the platform by leveraging our expertise in hardware optimization, software customization, language support and scale.

Microsoft would make available the existing free Windows Phone Developer Tools; Visual Studio 2010, Expression, Silverlight and the XNA Framework to developers. Together, we will provide guidance for developers wishing to port their applications to Windows Phone.

Nokia and Microsoft would also combine services assets to drive innovation. Nokia’s Ovi Maps, for example, would be at the heart of key Microsoft assets like Bing and AdCenter, and Nokia’s application and content store would be integrated with Microsoft Marketplace for Nokia Windows Phones, to deliver a great single commerce experience for developers and consumers alike.

The Qt ecosystem
Qt will continue to be the development framework for Symbian and Nokia will use Symbian for further devices; continuing to develop strategic applications in Qt for Symbian platform and encouraging application developers to do the same. With 200 million users worldwide and Nokia planning to sell around 150 million more Symbian devices, Symbian still offers unparalleled geographical scale for developers.

Extending the scope of Qt further will be our first MeeGo-related open source device, which we plan to ship later this year. Though our plans for MeeGo have been adapted in light of our planned partnership with Microsoft, that device will be compatible with applications developed within the Qt framework and so give Qt developers a further device to target.

Nokia Mobile Phones
Nokia Mobile Phones will drive Nokia’s “web for the next billion” strategy, leveraging Nokia’s innovation and strength in growth markets to connect the next billion people and bring them affordable access to the Internet and applications. This represents a further opportunity for developers. Nokia will leverage our proxy browser technology on mobile phones, as well as continuing to enhance Java support and SDKs, with developers and publishers able to deliver their applications to consumers through the Nokia store.

Supporting our developers
As part of the change in Nokia’s organization announced today, the Services and Developer Experiences (SDX) unit will be responsible for Nokia’s global service portfolio, developer offering, developer community relations, and integration of partner service offering. Forum Nokia will be part of that unit and will continue to support developers for Symbian smartphones and Series 40 mobile phones.

We will strengthen our ability to support developers both globally and in local markets, ensuring that we can work with you wherever you are to bring your latest applications to our store and help you leverage the global revenue opportunity with Symbian and Series 40.

For Nokia Windows Phones, Microsoft would provide tools for application developers to easily and rapidly leverage Nokia’s market reach. The integration of Microsoft Marketplace and Nokia’s content and application store would provide scalable infrastructure and compelling consumer engagement for applications for Nokia Windows Phones.

The combined stores would offer unparalleled distribution. The Ovi Store already delivers content in 190 countries, with local specific content in 90 of those. We are now seeing 4 million downloads a day, with 300,000 users signing up daily and 400,000 developers now working on applications for Nokia on Symbian. In addition to offering operator billing with 103 operators in 32 countries, we plan to support the widest range of business models for our publishers and developers.

We plan to make it easy and profitable for all developers to thrive in the ecosystem, taking advantage of the enablers (API’s) offered by ourselves, Microsoft and other partners – including location, search, monetization and advertising.

What’s next?
As we said, this announcement is about our plans to work with Microsoft and the planning will continue. Microsoft & Nokia announcing Windows Phone 7 Partnership?

It seems like Nokia doesn’t have much choice to increase it’s down slope sells then partner with a major 3rd party operating system once again. This time it’s Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7, and we certainly hope it raises Nokia a good fortune.

It is expected that Nokia will announce a new partnership at Capital Markets Day next Friday. This is when the company has launched new products and ideas in the past and Chris Ziegler claims this time around we’ll learn about a new partnership with the boys from Redmond. As a result Nokia’s existing platforms will be dropped as a direct result. It’s hard to pick which one that’d be: Symbian, though terribly out-of-date, is still wildly popular in Europe and emerging markets, while MeeGo is technically promising but has yet to make any impact in the market whatsoever. On the flipside, noted Microsoft pundit Mary Jo Foley doesn’t put a lot of stock in this latest round of rumors.

Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread running on Nokia N900

When somebody talks to me about the Nokia phone then I always mention him that I’m not a really big fan of Nokia and the main reason for this is that I don’t like their OS.But I agree that their hardware is one of the better hardware available in the market.And now guys from dailymobile has shared a video showing latest Android OS Gingerbread running on Nokia N900.

The demos of Android running on different Nokia sets are on the internet from past year and it didnt took hackers lot much time to run Gingerbread on latest Nokia phone.The video shows that Android is working very smoothly on N900.

This is an amazing combination and really I like Android on his handset rather then Symbian OS which I found it to be little bit lame.Well may be we can hope some day that Nokia may launch their official Android Phone.
